Heineken Experience
This unique brand experience shows you how a small, Dutch brewery rose to worldwide fame and gives you the opportunity to take a tour through the company’s old brewery.
A visit to the Heineken Experience is so much more than just a tour of a brewery. Not only is it an informative tour, it is a hands-on tour that you will experience through all your senses, and it is delicious too! This tour through the Golden Halls of Heineken takes you on a unique brand experience of the original historic Heineken brewery right in the heart of Amsterdam.
Take a tour through the historic facilities that were originally built in 1867 and get an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes of one of the largest beer companies in the world. This was where Heineken brewed its famous beer until 1988, when the building was converted into a museum and centre for visitors and opened its gates to the public in 1991. Since then, it has become one of Amsterdam’s most popular tourist attractions.

I love beer but my wife isn't a fan so I wasn't sure how this would be for both of us. No need to be worried, it's a great experience finding out about the history of the company, interactive elements to get involved with including design your own bottle label. Very good value for money with beer samples thrown in.
We did the tour of the factory and had a great time, it cost roughly £20 each and that varies on different websites but I can honestly say it was worth every penny. We’ve done several beer and cider tours and this one ranks highly, the staff are friendly and informative and the interactive elements were a great touch. Within our tour we had 2 free drinks each and had several opportunities to win more throughout the tour. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Amsterdam who might have a couple hours spare.
What a trip. I've visited many breweries but Heineken Experience is another level. The tours are guided but you can wander between the areas during the tour. Samples and freebies available at different points during the tour. Helpful knowledgeable staff guide you through the history of the plant and brewing process before sampling the three types of Heineken brews. Original, silver and zero %. Interactive exhibits are available throughout the tour and you are actively encouraged to join in. 5min walk from the Rijks Museum and Van Gogh museum so lots to see in one day all together.
Brilliant Beer and Brilliant Staff makes an combination. From the moment you walk in you are made to feel welcomed it is obvious these guys and girls love their job. Lots to take in a round history then free beers and a fabulous little bar at the end which had live competitions going where guests got to practice pulling the perfect Heineken pints. This was a definitely a highlight of our trip. We got some personalised bottles which were reasonably priced and then enjoyed the rooftop bar for an extra drink. I would say this was slightly underwhelming however it was a grey and very cold day so I would not read into that too much
We visited this tour as part of a short break and really was brilliant! The tour is very interactive with lots of taster opportunities and then a brill bar at the end where you can partake in your free drinks!! It is very informative and you can move around at your own pace but there is always staff on hand to assist. There is a cloak room to leave coats and bags and we had the opportunity to take part in a 'Pull the Perfect Pint' Challenge and even made our very own personalised bottle to take away! However what really makes this place is the staff - they are the most friendly bunch - right from the front door to the bouncers directing you to the exit. They are all young and full of life and enthusiasm which really helps. We would definitely to again!
Before I went there I thought it was just another rip off but we all had fun, young and old. Especially the part we we impersonated the beer bottles was the best. I recommend the experience to every visitor to Amsterdam.
This was amazing beyond any expectation Jordan was an incredible tour guide and Jewels was always there with a great compliment to make this a true VIP experience. From check in manager Alex made us feel special
Far better than we expected, very worthwhile tour! Staff were a lof of fun, beer just 2 days old to try. Maybe an option of different alcohol at the roof top bar for the non beer drinks would be good but it did not ruin the experience.
You can turn up and book at the machines in the foyer or pre book on an app, either way it seems really flexible and you can just turn up at any time. We did the self guided tour where you get a quick introduction and then you’re free to make your way through the brewery. You get two tokens for beers at the start that can be redeemed in the bar upstairs. Also upstairs there’s the Heineken challenge where “Marcus” talks you through pouring the perfect pint. We really enjoyed this. We ended the tour on the rooftop with great views of Amsterdam and now come home with a Heineken habit. Would definitely recommend.
Went here on the reccomendation of our son and we were not dissapointed. From the moment we got there the staff were absolutely amazing and a credit to heineken and the Netherlands. Tour was very informative and extremely interactive which we loved. This tour is a must do and well worth the money. The beer tasted great and loved the heineken silver beer. Made our own heineken bottle which was a nice souvenir and is a must do . Big shout out to the guy where you get your bottle you made from as he was friendly ,polite and a joy to talk to and very helpful. Just cant remember his name but top guy. I would do the tour again the next time we visit Amsterdam as it was enjoyable .
The best part is the tasting at the end, where you get to sample freshly brewed Heineken, straight from the source. Staff are very knowledgable.
Was a great overall experience, went with friends and had an amazing time. One young man named Thiago was an absolute gentleman and improved our overall experience greatly. Will definitely come again.
Great way to spend a couple of fun hours! All the staff are so enthusiastic and helpful. The actual brewery bit is really interesting, but doesn’t take that long. You do get a great insight in to the history of the company and how it came to be so much of well known brand. The fun bit is the interactive exhibits and picture opportunities. Good selection of historical objects and sporting connections. In addition, the ‘free’ beers, which were really appreciated!
A great experience that exceeded expectations. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was more than a typical brewery tour that included some neat things to do and see. I highly recommend it!
We booked the VIP experience and were very impressed with both the quality of the exhibits and the knowledge of our guide, Suzanne. Absolutely recommended for anyone who loves beer and wants to learn more about it.
Great experience, for someone who isn’t a massive fan of beer and only went because the rest of the group likes beer I had a great time. You get to try the nicest, freshest heineken I have ever tasted! The tour guides were enthusiastic, informative, friendly, and made the experience great and interactive! I would highly recommend and would go back if I returned to Amsterdam.
Good fun, staff enthusiasm lifted the experience, the themes explaining the brewing process and beers at the end were good.
This place was my favourite attraction in Amsterdam. It was just amazing, they provided historical information which was really valuable and interesting. But it’s the tour itself that is great. There are interactive rooms with photo opportunities and you get 3 half pints accross your whole journey. Me and my partner (who doenst like lager) loved the experience and the bar at the end was amazing. If you have epilepsy it may not be the best place but overall it was well run and a fun experience for both of us. The stuff were great as well.
The Heineken Experience is definitely a touristy activity, but we had a blast! It’s a completely high-tech, interactive experience that’s fun and unique, though there are certainly more intimate brewery or distillery tours out there. The Pros: First and foremost, the staff is fantastic—friendly, funny, and genuinely happy to be there. They were more than willing to answer questions and made the experience enjoyable. The interactive displays and high-tech features were impressive and added an extra layer of fun. The beer itself was good, though the free drink options were very limited (alcoholic or nonalcoholic). The Cons: It can feel very overcrowded, especially during peak times. Locker space is limited, and they stopped accepting coats around 5 PM, which was inconvenient. We also did the rooftop experience, but since it was raining, we couldn’t sit or hang out outside, and the one drink included felt a bit underwhelming for the extra cost. Overall, I’m glad I did it as it was a fun and different kind of tour, but I probably wouldn’t do it again or recommend it to someone with limited time in Amsterdam. It’s worth trying if you’re looking for something lighthearted and entertaining, but it’s not a must-see.
Probably one of the coolest things you can do in Amsterdam. Wonderful staff, great tour/experience. Couldn’t recommend it more !!
It was a fantastic experience! From the moment you walked through the door people were friendly. You get what you want out of it and if you pay attention you can win prizes!
Great day at the Heineken tour. Greeted by friendly welcoming staff. All very helpful. The tour was really good, lots to see and learn about the history. Interactive/fun things to do. The bar at the end is great, lively with great music. We paid extra and went to the rooftop bar, great view and extra beers to try.
Guys don't miss this attraction!! Is very interesting and super super crazy! You can also make a tasting beer with them, learning a lot knowledge regarding this beer. you can play different games, take pictures , strange photo and even relax after tasting. Very curious and charming place to visit.
The best tour I did in Amsterdam! The staff were great and made learning the story of Heineken fun and interactive. The bar at the end of the tour was fantastic and a great place to hang out afterwards. You can even have a go at pouring your own Heineken from the tap.
You have not been to the Netherlands if you have not tried the Heineken experience – that's what I've been told, and because me and my girlfriend are beer lovers, I really liked the experience. It's definitely one of a kind.
The history of the brewing of this brand in the historic building was so interesting. The beer at the end was delicious! We also took the canal cruise and it was fascinating.
We had a blast at Heineken on a rainy Monday. Plenty of information, and lots of interesting bits of history. Highlights really were the sheer amount of beer available however! We bought the package with 2 beers on the tour, and 1 on the rooftop, however we ended up with quite a few more beers than that, by learning how to pour our own, winning extra beer by saying 'proost' the loudest etc. It was really fun and interactive.
This is probably one of my favourite attractions in Amsterdam. We both had a lot of fun during our time here, and thought it was very well valued for money. You get a small taster heineken in the middle of the tour, and then you get two drinks in a bar at the end of the tour. However, we had paid extra for the rooftop bar too, which includes another drink. The atmosphere at both the bar at the end of the tour and the rooftop bar were fantastic. The way the tour was self-guided helped a lot with the flow, as you are able to hang back and take everything in without being too rushed. It was very interesting learning about the history of heineken and also looking around the old brewery. The ‘ride’ was a silly but fun touch to the experience too. Every staff member we encountered was brilliant and so friendly. Top notch customer service. If you’re wondering for something to do in Amsterdam, and you like beer, then this is definitely a must-do!
We did hear lots of mix review on the Heineken Experience and desided to try it. We did not regret, it was a nice tour where we can see and learn al from the History and how it was made from the start to precent day. Give it a try.
When we got there we waited about 5 mins to put our coats and jumpers away. We queued about 10 mins to start our tour of the Heineken Museum. After we queued we got 2 free drink tokens too! When we started the tour we were shown how they first stared making bottles and how little they were making. Myself found it very interesting and you find how they become a international beer company. After that we walked upstairs into this bog box with around 30 people where we became bottles and we saw how the bottles were made and cleaned in a bottle POV. You move on into a tasting drink of where the beer is no more then 28 days fresh. After having aa refreshment you walk into a little room all about Verstapen, Football pitch bench, PS4 if your with your pals, photo booths, real life F1 lights and a bath where you can claim your 2 free drinks.
A short walk from the Rijksmuseum, I didn't have a booked ticket however no problems getting a ticket from a machine, there are free luggage lockers in the reception area. I enjoyed the tour, the scale of the current beer production is staggering. Lots of information, electronic visual displays and flashing lights . The culmination is of course tasting the beer , you leave through the gift shop all things Heineken on sale. An interesting way to spend an hour at such an iconic spot.
It was a very enjoyable experience, and we enjoyed learning about the history, it was great to learn about the process of making it too. All the staff we engaged with right from walking through the door into the building were great! I definitely think this is a must do for anyone coming to Amsterdam! It would have been better if there were actual guides with audios for non English speakers, the staff there were excellent and engaging and they could have been better utilised!
Had a very fun time at this tour of the brewery and the rooftop was a bonus with an extra *special* drink and amazing views of the city. The staff were all light hearted and fun. Would highly recommend if you are a beer fan
Did the Heineken Experience Tour & Canal Cruise—such a great time! Highly recommend doing this tour because you get to learn about the history of Heineken while sampling some beer and you get a boat cruise to view the city! There’s a gift store too if you want to bring souvenirs!
Went to the Heineken Experience at the weekend and had a lot of fun! As someone who doesn’t like Heineken I found the tour very interesting and well worth the money. You get to see the process of how it is made and also marketing etc. 3 drinks included (and a little 4th glass as part of the tour)
The Heineken Experience was a memorable journey through the brand’s history and brewing process. It was fascinating to see the evolution of Heineken and learn about the meticulous brewing techniques. The interactive elements were a highlight, allowing us to engage not only with the Heineken brand but also with other visitors, creating a lively, social atmosphere. Touring the factory and experiencing the brand’s legacy firsthand gave a deeper appreciation of Heineken’s craft and impact. Highly recommended for beer enthusiasts and curious travelers alike!
Ok, so it’s popular and very corporate branded but it’s Heineken and a big global brand. We went at about 2pm and the tour is quite ok, a nice vibe as you walk round and a good sense of what used to go on inside the factory. The guides were good, if a little OTT but in a good way. Some good photo opportunities and two drinks included. We did the rooftop option as well and whilst you’re above most of Amsterdam you’re not high enough to see over the rooftops but still worth the option as you got another drink and also some good photo options. I kinda liked it!
We are not big fans of Heineken Beer in the US...but when in Amsterdam, it is worth a visit to the brewery. We bought tickets at the door since we were not sure of timing. No problem. We were there about 2:00 on a Friday afternoon. The tour is fun and we learned a lot. At the end we had tokens for beer. I wish that the rooftop had been open. It was closed for remodel-and opened the day after we visited. The room to drink beer was absolutely packed. Having the rooftop open would have spread out that crowd a bit. The beer tasted good, and other than the room for drinks being packed-we enjoyed our time here.
The Heineken Experience in Amsterdam is a fantastic blend of history, brewing expertise, and immersive fun. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by the story of one of the world’s most iconic beers. The interactive exhibits are engaging, and the brewing process is explained in an easy-to-understand way, even for those who aren’t beer experts. The tasting sessions are a highlight, offering fresh Heineken in a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly, and the whole experience feels well thought out.
I can see why it is called a Experience, as opposed to a Brewery Tour. From the moment we entered the building, all the staff who were mostly young and enthusiastic, were happy to help/answer questions during the first part of the tour. This was for me the interesting part, as it dealt with the history and brewing of Heineken. The rest was more about their sponsorship/advertising and interactive exhibits. At the end, there is a sufficiently good basement bar(apart from the rather sticky floor, we were there late afternooon) to use your two free tokens on a small Heineken 5%,4% 0% or soft drink. You are unable to purchase additional drinks, on top of your tokens, thankfully some American tourists, were more than happy to pass on their unused tokens. We purchased the extra roof top bar package,a extra drink plus admission to the bar.It was a fine day,the views over Amsterdam(there was some building work going on up there) with a beer in hand was a pleasant end to our experience.
The tour starts off by learning about the early beginnings and then you’re guided through the process of brewing from start to finish. In that itself it’s educational and fun and you try the beer en route. If you’ve done the Guinness experience there are many similarities which is a very good thing.
We had a fantastic short visit to the Heineken Beer Museum in Amsterdam, we were looked after two lovely staff members Lana and Mark. They were warmth and enthusiastic truly enhanced our experience. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our time there. From sharing fun facts about the brewing process to making sure we had everything we needed, they made us feel welcome and engaged. It’s clear they love what they do, and their passion is infectious! I highly recommend visiting this museum, not just for the great beer but also for the amazing hospitality. Thank you for a memorable visit your are a truly professional employees!! Steve and Annie Burns England
I knew the popular beer Heineken factory located in Amsterdam just thought of visiting this place since we are here on vacation. This tour gave us many information about beer making and their history in this business. It is professionally made and the facilities are very good, must visit if you are a beer lover and like to see such attractions
Such a great experience! It was interactive, interesting, and worth checking out. They also offer a tasting at the end. Very cool to experience while in Amsterdam. Fun activity even if you dont drink beer.
I have been there once with my partner and once again with some friends with few years difference and had fun both times. You can see how Heineken has changed through time, how the beer is made, you can have fun in the different rooms and you get 3 beers at the end of the experience. They also have a rooftop but it’s not opened all the time, second time we went it was under renovation, but the whole tour was still good. Price is also affordable. You can make your personalised bottled beer with your name and date on it and take it with yourself as a memory 😊 Would like to visit again
The Heineken Experience was a great tour we really enjoyed it it's a self guided tour but there are sections were there are staff member telling you about the brewing and ingredients which is a great touch much preferred this to just being left to walk around on your own, you get to taste the Heineken too which was great I would highly recommend this tour. You got 2/3 drinks on this tour.
The Heineken museum was a fun and interactive tour that offered great insights into the brewing process and brand history. There are engaging exhibits and delicious tastings. It is a must-visit for anyone who loves a good beer. We even sent postcards to our family in the UK, which was a very nice personal touch. We say Proost - cheers!
Reasonably priced fab experience. Definitely not for drivers. Great tour at your own speed. Sample beer 1/2 way round. At the end of the tour you can exchange your chips provided at the beginning ice the tour for two glasses of Heineken they do have 0 alcohol too. Fab shop at the end with no pressure to purchase. Highly recommend. Best experience we have visited in the last week
We were only able to find 10am VIP tickets but were glad we did. Bobby provided a fantastic guided (VIP) tour so we had the main areas to ourselves. Had a fun tasting session in Freddy’s Bar. We met some lovely people in our group of 10 which made for a fun and sociable ending in the bar downstairs. Highly recommend!
Visited about 3 years ago and has been upgraded to entertain younger adults who enjoy beer. Was a shame the horses were no longer there. Wouldnt say I enjoyed the ‘new’ experience, the history was interesting, dont think I would visit again.
