In Amsterdam you can choose between a bus and a boat tour, so let’s look at each separately. The Amsterdam bus tour drives around the outskirts of the city centre because of restrictions set by the city and because it gives you access to locations both inside the centre and outside of it. The bus will drive through parts of the city you are otherwise unlikely to visit.
The Amsterdam hop-on hop-off bus will, for instance, drive you past the De Gooyer Windmill and along the IJ river. All in all, a full circle of the Amsterdam bus tour will take a little over 1 hour. However, your ticket will give you access for 24 or 48 hours, so you can take your time exploring the sights along the way.
City Sightseeing Amsterdam boat
Our Amsterdam boat tour will take along the iconic canals on a cruise that is longer than regular canal cruises and with stops so that you can explore the sights and attractions on the waterfront. Because the route is longer, you will also come to places that aren’t frequented by other boat tours, such as in front of the National Maritime Museum.
If you want to stay on board of the boat for a full circle, it will take approximately 2 hours. Regular canal cruises last only 1 hour so you can clearly see the difference is distance covered, even with the stops along the way. Of course, your ticket will give you access to the boat for 24 or 48 hours so you can hop on and off as many times as you like.
